Skate to NYACK
Saturday, September 4, 2010

Join Eric for SKATE TO NYACK this Saturday!

NYack is about a 27 mile skate.
It's a beautiful road with a wide shoulder for skaters.

We will start from Columbus Circle.
Meet at 11 am, depart by 11:20 am. We usually get there by 2:30 pm, with a number of stops along the way.
Have lunch by the water and come back on the bus...... Bus fare is about $8.
You can be back in the city by 4 pm if you need to.

Obviously, this is for Strong Intermediate Skaters at least. You would need to be comfortable skating the Wednesday night skate, traffic and all. You should be confident you can go the distance. We usually get a nice group of up to 30 skaters.

Bring shoes, lunch/bus money, and (of course) helmet and wristguards.

You are skating at your own risk, responsible for your safety, and agree not to sue or hold the Empire Skate Club or any volunteers responsible for your actions.

Meet at Columbus Circle at 11AM - we will leave at 11:20 sharp.

Distance is approx. 27 miles.

Tuesday Night Skate is on every Tuesday.
Come on out and join us!!

BIG APPLE ROLL 2009

We would like to thank everyone who participated in Big Apple Roll 2009. Without all of you it could not have been such a resounding success!

Big Apple Roll 2010 is schedule for August 6 through 8.

Here are some voices (as is) from friends who came.

  • Another great BAR weekend. Nothing but sun and fun. Skating Times Square on a Friday night is one of life's simple pleasures. We went island hopping on Saturday and ferried from Manhattan to Governor's island on Sunday. Beautiful views of the skyline, the statue of liberty and Ellis Island - and no taxi's honking. On the way back we got a glimpse of the WTC location and heard some stories about how some NYers experienced that day.
Thanks to the BAR organizers and the skate patrol volunteers. See you in 2010. (Rocco Sciulli )
  • Great week end it was - The weather was awesome. A lot of different skates: fast ones and ... no so fast ones. We walked the Highline too and had some fantastic Italian food. (Christophe)
  • You all did a wonderful job putting it together! Maybe we will see each other at the next skating event. (Kris Fondran)
  • I came out for the sunday skate to governors island, and it was my first group skate in manhattan and I had a great time - perfect in every way. (ramesh)
  • I had a great time seeing everyone. Thank you. (Joel)
  • Skaters, We had by far one of the greatest skating weekends this year! It did not rain, there was only wind generated by skaters, sweeps did not loose anyone and no one got hurt! Thank you for coming out with us this year - without all of you, there would be no skates and no fun! Hope to see you all next year! Regards, (Mike G)
  • Thank you all for making the BAR weekend fun & safe, with visits to great landmarks. Clearly there was lots of planning, hard work, and long days -- it showed, and paid off. You did it with humor, grace, and people skills. Props too to the Skate Patrol volunteers for BAR. Best, (Blossom) (I'm baaaaack!!)
  • Thank you for organizing this beautiful ride on GI, I had a great time and would love to do it again in the future. (Denis)
  • Skaters, What a great weekend we had with the BAR. Weather was awesome. Kudos to all the BAR organizers and skate leaders for doing such a great job. WELL DONE !!!!!!!!!! And a Big Thank You to all the Tuesday Nighters who showed up on my skate Saturday morning. Thanks for your help and support. Eric
